Who Are We?

The Nelson Tenants Union aims to change the dialogue surrounding housing, to reconnect communities through collective action, and to help renters build the power they need to even out  the power dynamics that exist between landlords & tenants. Only together, through cooperation, can we build a better world for ourselves, our children, and the generations to come.

Solidarity & Values

First and foremost, the Nelson Tenants Union strongly believes housing is a human right and stands opposed to the speculative market.

We also recognize that housing sits at a unique intersection of many movements. Amongst them, the Nelson Tenants Union is committed to working in solidarity with Indigenous community’s fighting for LandBack. As well as unhoused communities fighting against displacement by the State.

The Tenants Union, through collective action, hopes to create a network of people that will be able to respond and adapt to increasingly unstable environments and assure housing is affordable and accessible to all people who need it.
